With approximately 86 billion neurons in an adult human brain, deciphering how they are wired together is a big challenge. Microscopy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are common tools for studying whole brain structure, while newer techniques are continuously being developed to see networks of neurons in even greater detail.
