Science After Hours, TFI's popular 21+ event, is back! Kicking off the 2024 season with Spectacular Spectacular, the ever-popular evening spectacle that has it all—music, dance, cinema, a secret speakeasy, surprise entertainment, and stunning performances wrapped around TFI’s exhibit experiences and rooftop gazing. Spectacular Spectacular returns for one night only, so step right up—because life is a cabaret!

Under the Big Top | Atrium
Witness a spectacular showcase of jaw-dropping acrobatics and mesmerizing performances by The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts and experience for yourself the thrill of floating through the air, walking the aerial rope, and spinning on silks.
The Revue | Pepper Hall
Hosts for the evening, Iris Spectre & Bear Trap, deliver a one-stop cabaret for burlesque, dance, and delights—music by DJ Drootrax. Lessons on how to shimmy, shake, and break it down with Cherry Bomb, the Director of the Peek-A-Boo Revue, and an instructor at The Philadelphia Burlesque Academy!
The Cinema | Franklin Theater
See a curated collection of short films from yesteryear, shown on real celluloid film presented by Philadelphia’s premiere floating repertory cinema series, Secret Cinema.
The Round | Fels Planetarium
Sit back and enjoy the sights of space paired with the sounds of local musicians for a series of memorable performances featuring sets by Angelo Outlaw, Resse Florence and members from Opera on Tap Philly.
Three-Eyed Jacks | ???
Follow the clues and seek the key for access to the magician’s speakeasy where Couple of Magicians, Lindsey Noel and Francis Menotti, will work their magic with some science.

What to Know:
- This is a 21+ event. A valid form of identification will be checked upon entry.
- Attendees are allowed small clutch bags only (4.5” x 6.5”).
- Food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase at various stations located throughout the museum provided by Seravezza Events.
- Doors for the event will open at 7:30 p.m., with programming starting at 8:00 p.m.
- While we encourage everyone to dress up to the theme, there is no formal dress code for Science After Hours; however, please note that full-face masks are not permitted, and shoes, tops, and bottoms are required for entry.
- The Franklin Institute does not discriminate based on gender or orientation, race, or religion. Anybody found to harass other guests will be escorted from the event.
