          Bess Dawson-Hughes graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1975. Her research focuses on environmental and genetic determinants of bone mass and fractures. In particular, she explores the role of calcium, vitamin D, protein, and other nutrients and their influence on age-related loss of bone mass; the risk factors for fractures in elderly men and women; and the environmental and hereditary contributions to bone mass.
Dr. Dawson-Hughes currently directs the Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic at the Tufts-New England Medical Center.
