| Major Taylor's real name is Marshall W.Taylor. He was born on
November 26, 1878. He lived outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. He had 5 sisters and 2
brothers and his family had very little money. The reason that he was born
in Indiana had to do with his grandparents. Both of his grandparents were slaves. They
moved over the state line into Indiana because it was a free state. His grandfather,
Gilbert Taylor fought for the north in the Civil War. |
